Advanced Nurse Practitioners in General Practice
We have two full time Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Although Nurse Practitioners have been active in hospital departments for some time they are still a relatively new phenomenon in General Practice. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner role is one that works both independently and alongside a traditional GP. Their training means they are fully experienced to independently consult with patients, examine, diagnose and action a plan of health care across a multitude of clinical situations.
The Practice Nurse
We have one Practice Nurses covering 14 sessions each week. This role has expanded in recent times, their role of blood taking and simple dressings has evolved into more intricate and specialised care of chronic disease management of areas such as Diabetes, Asthma and Heart disease.
Our Dispensary Manager supports the clinical team in all medicines management issues. Additionally offering repeat medication reviews with the aim of improving treatment, optimising its impact whilst reducing medicine related problems and reducing waste.
