• Our Midwife service is supplied by a team approach. They are all Midwifes attached to the Dorset County Hospital. They visit the practice each Friday morning to hold an antenatal clinic.
  
• Once a patient thinks that they may be pregnant then we encourage them to consult with their GP of choice as soon as is convenient after a positive pregnancy test. This is usually around 6-8 weeks. The Midwife will be informed and they will contact the patient direct to arrange an initial booking appointment at your house. This appointment is ideally prior to 10 weeks of the pregnancy.
  
• The initial stages of these consultations entails a degree of paperwork in order to arrange a set of notes for you to keep, and in addition the organising of a number of initial tests, including blood tests and scans.
  
• Throughout your pregnancy you can contact the Midwifery team or your preferred GP depending upon availability and preference.
