Keith Wise, a 30 year old Design Engineer employed at AgustaWestland Helicopters, is facing the challenge of a lifetime as he gears up to cycle across America.
In July and August 2008, Keith, who lives in Stalbridge, will be donning his lycra and cycling the 3116 miles from Oceanside, California to the First Landing Site, Virginia, to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Keith, with the help of his family and friends, is organising and funding the event himself and will be cycling the distance on his own. However, all of the hard work and loneliness on the open road will be worthwhile for him if he succeeds in raising the total sum of £5,000, between the two charities.
You can sponsor Keith by visiting his online fundraising page
You can pay by credit or debit card, and the money will go directly to your chosen charity. Where supporters are UK taxpayers, you can select for the charity to receive 28% extra in Gift Aid, which makes justgiving the most efficient way of sponsoring Keith.
For more information regarding the challenge which Keith has set himself, please visit his website www.acrossamerica.co.uk where you can find out more about the route that he will be taking, the charities he has chosen and the upcoming fundraising events that are being organised.
