| Contacting a doctor during surgery hours
Medical attention when the surgery is closed
Dorset Urgent Care Service (UCS). This service will provide cover for all our patients (including those in Somerset) who need help with urgent medical problems when the surgery is closed.
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the condition this might involve advice over the telephone, a visit to a local treatment centre or a visit by a doctor, nurse or paramedic.
You can also call NHS Direct for general information with trained nurses on hand for expert advice.
It is important...
It is important that people use 999 and Accident & Emergency Departments for genuine emergencies.

- Chest pain (see NHS Direct website re Chest Pain in Adults)
- Unconsciousness
- Heavy blood loss
- Suspected broken bones
- Deep wounds
- Severe breathing difficulties
- Head injury.
